A few weeks ago my friend Jen text me and asked if I was interested in doing a sewing class at our local Jo-Ann store and I said sure why not. I had never touched a sewing needle or machine before so I was a little nervous that whatever I tried to make would be a disaster. It turned out to be a lot of fun and I actually made something well! There were 6 of us in the class, 5 people from our book club, and it was the perfect size class. With the cost of the class we got pins, a pin cushion, scissors, thread, and enough fabric for our project. Our instructor, Lisa, started out by giving us a breakdown of the sewing tools, how to cut patterns, and then it was time to whip out the machines and start sewing our cute little purses.
What I didn’t realize about sewing is that the prep work is the time consuming part, the actual sewing of the purse was quick & easy. Luckily Lisa prepped our machines because there is no way I was figuring that out on my own. I should learn how to if I plan to start sewing but since the class was already running long she did a lot of the leg work. I probably couldn’t recall too much of what I was taught but overall I enjoyed myself and I was very impressed with how all our purses came out!! I would definitely go to another class. Afterwards all us ladies went to get an adult beverage & some dinner at Duffy’s Sports Grill. It was a fun & successful girls night out!! 🙂
