When it came to my birthday this year I got very, very spoiled! I got not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR birthday celebrations! Luke had to work inventory on my actual birthday (Friday) and the next night so the day before my birthday we went to dinner with Jen & Justin to Coolinary Cafe, which if you have never been you need to go. The food is delish. It was so nice to hang with old friends for a low key dinner. The next day I had a half day at work and then Mom, Kelley, & Andi picked Jen and I up at 3:30 to catch the 4 pm Brightline. Turns out they should have picked us up 5 minutes earlier because we ended up missing the train…..woops! The next one wasn’t until 6 so we went to Avocado Grill for some food & drinks to kill time.
From Avocado Grill we hopped in an Uber and I have never laughed so hard! We ordered a bigger car, or so we thought we did, but a sedan arrived so our silly selves decided to squeeze in. The Brightline was a fun experience, it is nice to not have to drive and to still get to Fort Lauderdale fairly quickly.
Once we got to Fort Lauderdale everyone had a surprise in store for me….they took me to LIPS!!! If you don’t know what Lips is, it is a drag queen show. Clearly my people know me well. We had SOOOOO much fun, the ladies at Lips put on a great show. We were singing along, dancing, drinking, laughing….it was a great time! Plus they started the show by playing Alaska’s song “Hieeeeeee” and I was singing my behind off. My Mom was cracking up that I knew all the words. All that and my old self was still in bed by 11:30!
Saturday night Mom had a little get together at her house for some dinner & cake for those who weren’t able to make it out to Lips the night before. We ordered some pizza, had some Oreo ice cream cake, and just hung out enjoying each other’s company.
The final birthday dinner was a belated celebration last night with my Dad. We celebrated both my birthday and my twin brother’s birthdays. They turned 29 on August 4th. We picked Avocado Grill (yes again, it is really good and dad had never been.) As always we had a great time and the food and drinks were SOOOO yummy. I recommend the Strawberry Cucumber Martini, Tito’s Watermelon Lemonade, Rock Shrimp Bang Bang, Shishito Peppers, Grilled Steak Tacos, and Caramel Lava Cake (this isn’t the name of it but I can’t remember what it was called), among other things. I have to say this birthday was one for the books. Thanks to everyone who made it so special!
