I loved the first book of this series so it was hard for this one to measure up. I did enjoy this follow up but not as much as the first book. This one didn’t catch my attention right out the gate like Stillhouse Lake did but after a few chapters I was hooked in. This one was based more in adventure, trying to track down Melvin to make sure he can’t come after them again. That could have been a boring premise but Caine doesn’t shy away from the scary details of Melvin’s psyche and the dark web to the point where it is pretty disturbing. The fact that the dark web is a real thing in our world and the things that get posted and passed around are terrifying. Overall I did enjoy this follow up book. I see that there is a third one coming out this year so I am interested to see where that one goes. This book didn’t end in a cliff hanger so not sure where Caine will take these characters next.
